Preferred Events: 2013 Staff Shots

The Preferred Events team has kept me up past my bedtime on more than one occassion this fall, inviting me out to shoot their killer corporate events at some of the coolest venues in Las Vegas. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't know how to get anywhere on the Strip (most of my life is spent on Little League fields, y'all), so I owe them heaps of thanks for giving me a reason to put on heels every now and then. :-)

They are ah-mazing at what they do, they are a class act to work with, and it's always fun to meet up with them for their year-end photos...

Las Vegas Senior Photos: Ashlee

When she heads to Grand Canyon University next year to study secondary education, Ashlee Coate says she is really going miss "the food" and her younger brother. :-) She's just that kind of sweet. And grounded. And so clearly rooted and established in love. We met up at her favorite childhood park in Summerlin to take her senior photos, and she was so patient with me as I made her sit on bushes and jagged rocks like it was no big deal.

Twin Cities Family Photos: The Hughes Kiddos

This was my third photoshoot with Tailynne and Austin and my first with their new little sister, Caliah. They were truly the sweetest, and (bonus!) Caliah crawled for the very first time when I teased her with a Dora the Explorer toy I found in my Shootsac. :-) How's that for special with a side of cuteness? 

I adore you guys. It was so great to catch up and spend time with you! 

Minneapolis Family Photos: The Benedicts

When Ellisun greeted me at her front door wearing the exact spearmint stripe Anthropologie skirt I nearly pulled off the sale rack two days earlier in St. Paul (wrong size, boo hoo!), I knew we were going to get along just fine. When she showed me her home and it had the same vibe as mine, I thought we might be sisters (or at least following the same Pinterest boards). Glory, I tell ya. Glory. 

Then, she brought out Brooklyn...and I died. Yummy, squishy, 14-month-old goodness with a sweet big brother (Colton) and daddy (Bryan) to boot. Love.

 

Santa Barbara Maternity Photos: Wendy & Larry

My family and I spent all of last week in Santa Barbara helping my dad close up shop at the home he's lived in for 27 years. We sold nearly all of his possessions and said so long to the house--and to the city--that built me. A couple of days before the estate sale, Wendy (who I've known for nearly a decade) and Larry stopped by to make some pre-sale purchases for their new home and new beginning Santa Barbara. It just so happened that as we were busy pulling up roots and prepping to say good-bye, Wendy and Larry were putting roots down and saying hello to a new house, a new city, and a brand-new baby girl.

I've never seen her look happier.

Congratulations, you two!

These two were adorable (clearly) and a ton of fun to be around. The ground was mushy and the warm wind was ridiculous, but that didn't stop us from having a good time and laughing a lot along the way. I'm excited for them to meet their first baby boy in just a few weeks!

Newborn Photos - Baby Austin

I knew right away that I was going to like this little man. It just so happens that he shares my birthday week and my brother's name. He was three days new when I met him, and his parents, Jennifer and Jeff, were so awesome and brave to let me invade their home less than 24 hours after they left the hospital. Here's a wee preview of our time together...

A very special thanks to Jen's best friend, Amber, for arranging this photoshoot as a gift. You are already the coolest and most thoughtful honorary Auntie. Enjoy your new 'lil buddy!

Selah at Seaport Village

Last weekend, my husband and I surprised our three kids with a quick trip over to San Diego. While the boys enjoyed a Padres game, Selah and I headed to Seaport Village to breathe in some salt air. 

Booking Twin Cities Photoshoots for July!

My family and I will be in the Twin Cities this summer...

...and I will be scheduling a VERY limited number of shoots in and around St. Paul while we are there. 

Sessions are $275. They include lots of goodies and will take place July 3 - 11.

Please e-mail me ASAP for more info. A $75 deposit is due to me on or before May 17th to reserve a spot in my schedule. Shoots will book on a first come, first serve basis, so don't wait to let me know if you want in on the fun. :-)

Joy and Chris' Las Vegas Destination Wedding

 

While Chris helped Joy finish college, Joy helped Chris be awesome.

I love this sentence from Joy and Chris' wedding program because it speaks to selflessness required to build, sustain, and enjoy a meaningful marriage. It was a great reminder to me of what a privilege it is to be a helpmate to my own husband, and it will certainly serve Joy and Chris well as they lean into United States Airforce life together as husband and wife.
